SI Customs and Excise Division ASYCUDAWorld System Upgraded

The Solomon Islands Customs and Excise Division (SICED) has successfully upgraded its ASYCUDAWorld System to the latest Core Version 4.4.1, replacing the previous version, which was launched in 2015.

The upgrade aims to strengthen the automated Customs clearance process by providing a secure, integrated system that covers the entire Customs and Excise Clearance cycle. It is designed to enhance efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness in trade, while also improving regulatory practices.

The new version offers a more robust and faster system with new features that benefit traders, Customs officers, and management. Future phases will include additional enhancements and user training. The project involves knowledge transfer and mentoring for the Customs ASYCUDA IT Team from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD ASYCUDA) Expert.

“The ASYCUDA World System is successfully upgraded to the latest Core Version 4.4.1.

“The next phases of the upgrade project will include the implementation of new features and enhancements, as well as User training activities.

UNCTAD Senior AW Advisor Janak Ravindra Warnakulage facilitates one of the trainings with Customs Brokers, Declarants and Agents, including Shipping Agents, on the newly upgraded Version as part of the AW upgrade project at the Customs Headquarters in Honiara.

The Project technical assistance shall include the following:

  1. Migration to the latest available AW release
  2. Enhancement of the Customs processes/procedures, and implementation of international standards
  3. Capacity Building for Stakeholders, SICED IT, and Operations Officers

The upgrade is part of a broader effort to modernize and simplify trade procedures, making the Solomon Islands more globally competitive and attractive to investors without compromising revenue collection or national security.

The project is supported by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), PACER Plus, and the Solomon Islands Government, and is implemented by the Ministry of Finance. It reflects international commitment to supporting customs reform and modernization in the Solomon Islands.

Developed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the ASYCUDA System is a digital platform for customs management that facilitates foreign trade procedures. It simplifies and harmonizes manifests and Customs declarations, as well as accounting, transit, and suspense procedures.

ASYCUDA has been implemented and is being installed in over 100 nations, territories, and areas worldwide to facilitate faster, more convenient trade for traders.
